It is a FACT that ninety percent or more of bad shots are due to bad golf swing wrist action. This mistake is so common because it feels natural to control the club with the hands and this action leads to the breaking of the wrists.

There are two directions that the wrists can move during the golf swing. These two directions are forward/backward and up/down. The forward and backward movement of the wrists leads to unwanted breaking of the wrists. The up and down movements of the wrist are known as cocking the wrists to many teachers.

These movements are the reason that your grip on the golf club is so important. If you have a faulty grip on the club you encourage yourself in the bad habit of breaking wrists. If you are gripping the club correctly you will not have to learn this up and down hinging.

If your left arm is in the correct position during the swing the hinging of your wrists will be automatic. If your legs are moving forward while your club is still traveling backwards this will force your wrists to hinge.

To make sure that this hinging action in your wrists happens with every swing, you will want to keep the left wrist flat in relation to the back of your left forearm and the back of your left hand. If your left arm is correctly positioned your wrists will automatically hinge.

If your arm is not correctly positioned there will be the breaking motion instead of the hinging. Even though your wrists are so important to the swing you do not want to attempt to cultivate any independent wrist motion. You want to be as natural as possible with your golf swing wrist action.

Doing something as simple as swinging the club back farther than your shoulder can lead to the breaking wrists motion. With a motion like this it is more like a throwing motion than a fluid swinging motion.

By: Christian Bayler

About the Author:

Old wives tales, rumors, myths, urban legend. They all have their roots in misunderstanding, misinformation, partial truth or flat falsehood. When it comes to your golf swing this nasty nest of serpents can cause real problems. We’ll take a look at three of these myths so you can guard against getting into bad habits with your own game.

Myth # 1: Aim At Your Target – This is not so much a myth as it is confusing. Sure you want to aim at the target. The last time I checked there wasn’t any flag sticks in the parking lot. Just “what” do you aim at the target?… Clubface? Shoulders? Your body? To avoid confusion you need a few more details regarding what and where to aim given the conditions and situation. In this case the myth can cause misaligment and off-line shots.

Myth # 2: A Longer Swing Is A Faster Swing – Most golfers swing their driver faster than a 6 or 7 iron. It is a natural tendency and misconception that by cranking up the swing speed with longer clubs you will hit the ball harder and farther. You need to drive a wooden stake through th heart of this myth. Increasing the swing speed and effort to hit the ball harder usually throws off your natural tempo. You should stay in what is “your” personal rythm for each and every shot. Resist the myth.

Myth # 3: Always Play Shorter Clubs Back In your Stance – Again, a partial truth without additional details can get you into serious trouble. Positioning the ball incorrectly can cause alignment problems for a shot of a given length. With the ball too far forward tends to set up up too far left of target and with the ball to far back your shoulds can close leading to a push or a hook. It is true that you position the ball farther back for your pitching wedge than driver, BUT, for a normal shot with a level lie the ball should never be placed farther back than “center.”

Now that we have looked at three of the many myths that exist you can be on the look-out for the others. Some are partially true, but many are just plain wrong. Be alert to them and you shouldn’t be afraid to challenge them if you try one and it doesn’t feel right for your golf swing or game. After all, the ultimate goal is to enjoy your game and your friends.

By: Allen Royal

About the Author:

All golfers should be familiar with the term ‘golf swing path’ as the golf swing path makes up one of the most important shots in the game of golf. So what exactly is the golf swing path? In short it is the route, or path, that the golf club will travel when a golfer is taking a shot. This path is so important as it is a key factor in determining how accurate your shot will be, get your golf swing path right and you will be proud of your low handicap, get it wrong and you will be the one buying the drinks in the bar afterwards.

Ask any golfer and they will tell you that they spend a great deal of time making sure that they have the right golf swing path as it does not come easy and practise makes perfect. Two of the most important parts of a good golf swing path are the back swing and the down swing. The back swing is the part of the shot where the golfer draws back the club ready to strike the ball, this should be done with care making sure that your eyes are on the ball.

Then it is time for the down swing which is the part of shot where the face of the club strikes the ball and sends it hurtling down the fairway (hopefully). When completing this part of the golf swing path it is essential that you pay attention to what you are doing and keep your eyes on the ball. That way you will be sure to hit the ball time and time again. Many golfers like to practise their golf swing paths many times without actually hitting the ball just to make sure that they are on target with their swing.

By: Joe Marquart

About the Author:

Golfing can be a great game to play however it can also be very frustrating. There is a lot of options when it comes to choosing the method you want to learn to play better golf. One way is through learning to improve your game is through a golf swing training aid. One way most golfers think to improve their game and to improve your golf swing through better golf clubs. That is not the answer to honing your golf game.

Another way is to take lessons which can be pretty expensive. Another way is through a golf swing training aid such as books, videos, and or CDs. The problem that comes with a lot of these courses is that it doesn’t break down the information easily so you can use it right away. If you want to improve your golf swing, then I am going to explain a simple strategy that you can use right away.

When you are going up to golf, tee your ball double the height you usually tee it at. Now take a 3/4 swing, not a full swing. Now when you take your swing, follow through completely after impact of the ball. You will notice a more relaxed full swing and the contact will seem smoother. You will see a higher shot and increase distance. You need to make sure when teeing it higher, that the club is not directly behind the ball during set-up. If you do the wrong set up then you will see a definite pop-up.

Before you hit the ball it is key to allow the club head to touch the ground and then align the ball with the toe of the club. By doing this alone, you can easily see an increase in distance once you practice that a few times. A lot of golfers will tell you to put full force into the swing. This is not the way to swing, let the club be the main force and always follow through. Since you are following through completely after contact, the force will cause a better shot. Now with all the golf swing training aids and golf swing training supplies, it can be a lot of money and a lot of choices. The key is to make sure that the training you do receive is applied. You need to take action and try the things you learned to improve your golf swing through training or through another golf swing training aid. If you can find the right course or training from someone who has experience in training or coaching golfers, you can see a dramatic increase in your golf game quickly.

By: Eric Barton

About the Author:

Getting a golf swing plane that is simple, repeatable, and smooth is a major factor in getting your golf game back under control. Instead of always chasing balls through the weeds, imagine being able to stroll up to your approach shot in the middle of the fairway, and hitting a lazy 7 iron to the green!

These golf swing plane tips can help get your golf swing into a pattern that is simple and repeatable time after time:

Left Elbow Lock Angle – Most golfers realize that keeping their left elbow locked is the proper way to swing a club. But at what angel is appropriate? The best thing to do is to make sure you form a perfect triangle with your left elbow, right arm, and your hands. Practice leaving your elbow locked and you are on your way. Back-swing Angle – Your back-swing is another critical factor in how the club face strikes the ball. A proper back-swing will have the head of the club come to a stop on an even plane with the top of your head. Leave it short, and you are likely to slice and hit a fat shot. Too much, and you are off to the weeds again as well. Hand Placement – Your hands should remain on the same level in front of your chest in your entire swinging motion. Practice keeping your hands on the same plane to help create that simple golf swing plane that will take strokes off your game.

A simple, repeatable golf swing is the first step to really reducing your score quickly. Many folks who are able to produce the same results time and time again will shoot 10 to 12 strokes better than those who alter their swing on their round.

By: Bryan A

About the Author:

Imagine executing a perfectly timed and perfectly square swing with the force of a small child. The swing itself would be beautiful, but the lack of strength would render it ineffective. If your goal is to achieve more distance from your shot, you must increase the speed of the ball — and that means hitting it with more force.

There really are no secret tricks when it comes to your golf swing. Proper technique is a must. However, there are some things you can do to improve all of your swings – whether you’re simply putting or doing a long drive from the first hole.

If you look at a player like Tiger Woods, you must to try to achieve his physical condition. So, the first order of the day is to work on getting in shape. You need to tone your legs, torso, back, shoulders and arms. Look at golf as a ‘total-body’ sport.

Next consider running through exercises designed to improve your overall technique. One method to get a better feel for the backswing portion of your swing is to drop the ball behind your clubhead, then practice rolling it backwards in as straight of a plane as possible.

This tendency to ‘overswing’ happens at the topswing, as well. If you want to improve this aspect of your technique, you should practice holding your club all the way back then bringing it down with a gradual increase in speed and force. Think of it like a pendulum being brought down by its own weight.

Finally, if you’re having problems with distance, consider the possibility that your swing technique itself might not be the issue. It could be, instead, that you haven’t developed an accurate physical sense of the relationship between force and distance.

If this is the case, put down your golf club for a bit and try a little ‘lawn bowling’. Practice pitch-rolling the ball, using your arm like a club, to get a feel for how much force translate into how much distance.

By: Davide Di Croce

About the Author:

Are you looking for golf swing help? These 3 tips will add 10 yards to your drive:

1. Golf Fitness Training

Have you ever wondered how the world’s top golfers manage to drive the golf ball so far? Did you notice that many of them look very fit. For example, much of the power in Tiger Wood’s swing is attributed to his tremendous flexibility and core strength.

Their strength and flexibility does not come out of thin air. These professionals work out at the gym when they are not on the golf course or driving range. A little bit of weight training, lots of flexibility training and core training add a lot of power to the golf swing techniques of these top golfers. An additional advantage is that golf fitness training is done indoors, so you can get your workout no matter what the weather is like outside.

You, too, can do the same thing and add many yards to your golf swing. Even if you cannot work with a dedicated golf swing trainer, many gyms offer a Pilates training program. Although Pilates does not specially target golfers, the general core training and flexibility exercises in the program will still help you a lot.

2. Use The Longest Distance Golf Balls

Did you know that the longest distance golf balls can travel 260 yards when hit by an amateur golfer? CNN’s Golf Labs actually tested more than 50 of the best golf balls in play today, using a machine to hit the balls with a normal driver.

One of the longest distance golf balls is Noodle+, which travel 259 yards. Another excellent golf ball, Nike One Platinum, travels 240 yards. Tiger Woods actually uses this ball, because it gives him the greatest control over his game.

You could be losing many yards from your drive by using cheap golf balls. Try a top-grade golf ball and add another 10 yards to your drive.

3. Getting the correct golf clubs

Are you using the correct golf clubs? Amateurs have these 3 main problems with their golf clubs:
Grip – Are the grips on your golf clubs the right size for you? A grip which causes you to hold the golf club too tightly or too loosely can cause you to slice or hook the ball, losing precious distance in your drive. More than one golfer has found his slice miraculously disappearing once he got the grips on his clubs correctly fitted. Length – Yes, length matters. Too long or too short, and your swing could be badly affected. In the past, picking the golf clubs with the right length shaft was a hit or miss affair. However, with modern technology, many golf shops are equipped with golf swing analyzers and can analyze your golf swing and suggest the best shaft length for your driver. Flexibility – The more flexible the shaft of your golf club, the more power you have on tap. Unfortunately, more flexibility also means more torque, which can lead to a slice or hook. If you find yourself suffering from a bad slice, you may want to test a driver with a stiffer shaft. Conversely, if your golf swing techniques are good and you consistently hit the ball straight, getting a driver with a more flexible shaft could give you more power in your swing and a an extra 10 yards in distance.

Using just one of these golf swing help tips could add 10 yards or more to your drive. Use all three and gain 30 yards.

By: Godfrey Swain

About the Author:

People will do just about anything to improve their game of golf. They spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars buying lots of golf swing training aids or the best golf equipments out there just to shave off a few strokes. Unfortunately, it just isn’t that easy.

The golf swing is a very delicate motion. If you try to force it you’ll shank, hook, or just simply not hit the ball. To hit the golf ball correctly, there are 3 important fundamentals you must know before the understanding the technicality of a golf swing.

Fundamental #1 – Balance. You must remain balanced at ALL times during your swing, meaning from your address position to your finishing pose. If you lose your balance during your swing, chances are that you’re swinging too hard! Remember, hitting the golf ball far isn’t about strength, but using the proper techniques and tempo.

Fundamental #2 – Tempo. A good swing must have the right rhythm and tempo. The tempo is the transition from the speed of your upswing to your downswing. Everyone must establish their own tempo, some players have fast tempo like Tom Watson and some have a slower tempo like Ernie Els. A slower tempo does not mean shorter distance. Take a look at Ernie Els. His nickname is “The Big Easy” because he swings so easy, but yet he hits so far! The key thing to remember about finding the right rhythm is to never rush the swing.

Fundamental #3 – Stay relaxed. All good golf trainers will tell you to stay relaxed. Never tense up your body! Like how a 100m sprinter wouldn’t tense up their legs during the race, you wouldn’t tense up your body during your swing. You want a smooth motion, not a robotic and stiff golf swing. Staying relaxed is also directly related to the strength of your grip. If you’re tense, chances are that you are gripping the club too tight. The perfect grip strength should be at around 3 on a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the strongest. This means that you should be holding the club fairly comfortable and relaxed.

Before you try to get into all the technical stuff in a golf swing, you must understand these important fundamentals. So the next time you practice your golf swing, remember the tips from Golf Swing Trainers. Stay relaxed, remain balanced, and establish the right tempo! Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect!

For more information about golf, check out more tips at Golf-Swing-Trainers.org

By: Ernie Huang

About the Author:

There are some golf swing drills to help develop the perfect golf swing. If you are struggling to get your golf swing down; then you have come to the right place. We are going to discuss some of the
golf swing drills to help develop the perfect golf swing.

However I highly recommend if you are struggling in the game and have tried all kinds of tutorials and reading books on how to properly swing the golf club; then you may want to consider hiring a golf pro to help you improve your game. They may be able to help you with perfect golf swing drills, so that you will be more confident when you are playing your next game.

You can easily do these drills from the comfort in your home; however you may want to step out in the back yard otherwise you may break something.

The perfect golf swing starts with the proper back swing with the golf club swung right back to the limit of your body. When you reach this segment of the golf swing drill, learn how to focus your mind on the rotation of your body and the arm extension; your mind will always be one step ahead of the club.

The next step is the drill is going to move down to the actual swing, which will start at the lower part of the body, which will include your legs and hips. You will want to focus on how you transfer you weight. Instead of transferring the weight from the front to the back; focus on transferring the weight from the back to the front of the knees, thighs, and hips will all be moving forward.

Be Light On Your Feet: A sure way to improve your golf swing is to move your weight through the golf ball. The basic principle to hit long and hard lies in reverse weight shift. You must not sway but turn in such a way that your back foot’s spikes are in plain view.

You will want to end the perfect golf swing with the body weight on the outside of the front heel and the inside of the rear foot.

Of course you are going to have to pay attention to the form of your body and will take a lot of practice. You may even have to change your current form; because most likely you have picked up some bad habits, otherwise you would not be looking up information on how to improve your golf swing.

You will have to retrain your mind and muscles to work in this motion. However if you are willing to put in the right amount of practice you can improve your game.

If you found this article on “golf swing drills to help develop the perfect golf swing” helpful; visit our site below. It is filled with useful information on how to improve your overall game! You will be amazed how quickly you can get better and become the envy of all your golf buddies.

By: Ryan Marx

About the Author:
